Transportation to Airport from Los Angeles City Center

Citicorp Airport

The most practical transportation alternative to get to Los Angeles International airport from the city center is by using the FlyAway buses. These buses depart from Union Station and get to the airport in about 40 minutes. When there is traffic or during rush hour that travel time can vary significantly. FlyAway buses depart every 30 minutes and you don’t need to reserve a spot beforehand. We recommend checking the traffic conditions and figuring out what time you need to be at the airport beforehand.

The FlyAway buses operate between the following locations and the airport, Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley) Union Station (Downtown Los Angeles), Westwood (West Los Angeles/UCLA), Santa Monica, Hollywood, Orange Line, and Long Beach. Separate buses depart from these locations to the airport. You can buy your bus ticket on board using a credit card.

Passengers can also take the Green Line to the airport, which stops at the metro Green Line Aviation Station. From that station there are free shuttle bus services to the airport. The Green Line operates between Redondo Beach and Norwalk. After you get to the Green Line Aviation Station you can get on the LAX Shuttle “G” line, which will take you to the terminals.  

There are various buses that you can take from different locations in the city to get to Los Angeles International Airport. From Santa Monica you can take the Big Blue Bus R3 line, from Sylmar Metrolink Station you can take LADOT Commuter Express line 574, from Redondo Beach you can take LADOT line 438, and from Torrance you can take Torrance Transit Bus T8.

Taxi

Taxis are available 24/7 at the arrivals area of King Khalid International Airport. They are usually metered, but confirming the fare with the driver beforehand is recommended. Expect the journey to the city center to take approximately 25-30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Ride-hailing apps like Uber and Careem offer alternative options to taxis with designated ride-hailing pick-up zones near terminals.

Bus Services

Public buses connect the airport to various parts of Riyadh, including the city center. They typically operate during daytime hours, but schedules and routes should be confirmed at the airport information desk. Look for clearly marked bus stops at the arrivals area.

Metro

Riyadh metro system consists of six lines, connecting 85 stations. Line 4, or also known as the Yellow Line, runs from King Khalid International Airport to the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD). Passengers opting for public transportation can use the metro, as it is available at the airport exits, and tickets can be obtained from machines at the station.

Rental Cars

Car rental agencies at the airport allow travelers to drive themselves to the city center. Ensure you have a valid international license and insurance. Parking is available at most hotels and key locations in Riyadh.
