Transportation to Airport from Karachi City Center

Jinnah Intl. Airport

You can reach Quaid–E–Azam International Airport from Karachi city center by using a bus or minibus. However, using a means of public transportation can make you lose time even though it is the most affordable transportation alternative. If you decide to use a faster transportation vehicle, you can get on a taxi. Renting a car is another option.

Car Rental

There are many car rental companies offering service in the city center. Most of them are local companies. In Pakistan, traffic is generally heavy and complicated. For this reason, tourists are advised to rent a car with a driver by contacting a reliable company. You can get help from your hotel about this issue before your travel. You should drive on the highway N5 and take the Jinnah Terminal Road in order to reach the airport. You can get to Quaid–E–Azam International Airport in about half an hour under normal traffic conditions by following the airport directions.

Bus / Minibus

It is possible to reach the airport in approximately one hour by getting on an airport bus in the city center. One-way ticket price of these buses is 50 Pakistani Rupee per passenger. There are also minibuses carrying passengers to the airport from the city center. These vehicles are cheaper but tourists may be charged higher amounts. In addition, minibuses are very crowded. For these reasons, buses are more preferred by foreign visitors.

Taxi

Travelling to the airport from the city center lasts about half an hour. You should bargain over the fare before getting on any taxi. The cost of travelling to the airport from the city center is about 300 – 500 Pakistani Rupee.

Airport Information

Quaid–E–Azam International Airport, which is known as Jinnah International Airport shortly, is located 14 km east of the city center. There are foreign exchange office, ATMs and baggage rooms at the airport. In addition, there are restaurants and cafes where you can try local tastes as well as the delicacies from the world cuisine. You can do shopping at the stores where you can find various products specific to Pakistan like carpet and rugs. There is also a duty-free shop at the airport. Dammam is a port city located just on the Gulf of Basra, east of Saudi Arabia. In the city rich of oil, the industry is also highly developed. Due to its proximity to major cities and the ease of transportation, it is known as an important transfer point. There are two important things that you should not forget that you will visit Dammam.

The most common means of transportation in the city center are taxis. There is no taximeter in the taxis. Although it is a specific tariff of the routes, the fares are more subject to bargaining. Dammam is the second largest port in Saudi Arabia. Both ship trips and fish and freight transportation are organized from King Abdulaziz Harbor. The highways are quite developed in Dammam. In addition to a route to the capital Riyadh, many other countries in the region are also connected to the highways.

You can reach Bahrain in just 1 hour and Riyadh in 4 hours by car. If you have not rented a car, you can catch the buses leaving from the main bus terminal, which is about 700 meters from the city center.

As you can provide your intercity transfers with these buses, there are also 5 bus services every day from the bus station to Bahrain.

The railway system has an important place in the city. In addition to intercity passenger transport by train, cargo transportation is also being carried out. A project that will link Dammam to Mecca and Medina is in preparation.

The train station is 8 kilometers from the city center. From there you can reach Riyadh in 3 and half hours, Hofuf in 1 hour and Abqaiq in 40 minutes.

There is also an airport in the city and both domestic and international flights are operated from here. Bahrain International Airport is only 86 kilometers from the city center. From Dammam King Fahd International Airport you can reach the city center by taxi.

Different companies' offices are available at the airport to rent a car. For passengers who prefer to use means of public transport, bus services are arranged.

Taxi

If you do not prefer public transport, you can find a taxi at the airport's passenger exit. It is possible to reach the city center by taxi in a short time, less than half an hour, at a cost of about 50-60 SAR.

You should not forget that taxis do not have taximeters. For this reason, it is useful to tell the driver your destination in advance and agree on the fare.

Bus

If you prefer public transport, you can get to the city center by public buses operated by the Saptco Company. The journey takes up to 40 minutes and the ticket price is 12 SAR per person for one way.

You can also reach El Huber and El Hassa cities outside the city center by these buses. You can visit the Saptco Information Desk at the passenger terminal for departure times and route information.

Car Rental

There are the offices of ten domestic and foreign car rental companies in the airport. If you are going to drive a car from the airport to the city center, you must turn east at the terminal exit and connect to King Fahd Road.
