Tobolsk is located in Tyumen Oblast, north-western part of Russia. It is situated at the confluence of the Irtysh and Tobol Rivers and according to the 2010 datas, it has a population of about 100.000 people. Located on the Tyumen-Surgut railway, the city is also a river port. There is an oil refinery in Tobolsk, which is also home to one of the biggest petrochemical facilities of Russia. Some traditional handcrafts, such as bone carving, are preserved in the city as well. Tobolsk has humid continental climate. Winters are very cold, with an average of -21°C, and summers are mild, with temperatures around 13°C. Precipitation is higher in summer.
