About Shah alam

Shah Alam is the capital of Selangor state on Peninsular Malaysia. The city is located in Klang Valley. The city, which has planned and modern features, is situated about 16 kilometers of Kuala Lumpur.

Since the city is under the influence of equatorial climate, it experiences hot and humid weather throughout the year. The parks and gardens in touch with nature offer a cooling and relaxing atmosphere for the city. Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, which was built in 1988 and is also known as “Blue Mosque” with its large blue and silver dome, is the most famous structure of the city. The four minarets of the mosque, each reaching 142 meters above ground level are among the tallest in the world. The Blue Mosque overlooks the Garden of Islamic Arts, which is a large park of about 14 hectares. If you are interested in Selangor art, there are 9 different galleries that you can visit in this park. Selangor Palace and Selangor State Monument are among the important historical structures of the city.

Shah Alam Lake Gardens, which are among the most beautiful corners of the green silhouette of the city, cover an area of 43 hectares. You can enjoy doing sports and spend pleasant time in the restaurants of this place having bicycle roads, walking tracks and wooden pavements. You can enjoy various activities like canoeing and water skiing in Shah Alam Lake Gardens where there are 3 artificial lakes. In Agricultural Park, which is 15 minutes away from the city, there are many plants including orchids, bamboos and spices. 

If you want to discover the entertaining aspect of the city, you should visit i-city which is a large facility covering an area of 72 hectares. In this complex hosting shopping centers, innovation centers and themed parks, you will see interesting ice sculptures. The design of the building consisting of millions of LED lights is one of the features that make the complex different. Sunway Pyramid is home to the biggest ice-skating rink of Malaysia.  

If you prefer flying to the city, the closest airport that you can use is Kuala Lumpur International Airport which is 48 kilometers away from the city. You can benefit from different transportation alternatives such as bus, taxi or car rental for travelling to the city center from the airport.
