Seferihisar is one of the oldest and most important districts of Izmir. It is known that the district has a history of at least three thousand years. The city is one of the places in Turkey that has the Citta Slow label in Turkey. Although Seferihisar has a marina with a capacity of 400 yachts, there is not a port that allows the city to transport freight and passengers.
Natural resources form the basis of the Seferihisar economy. Olive cultivation, fishery, ornamental plants greenhouses, citrus fruits and artichokes harvesting are among the main economic activities in the city. Tourism is getting a bigger share of economic resources each year.
Teos Ancient City, Sığacık Castle and the Seferihisar marina are among the places to visit. You can to enjoy the Aegean Sea thanks to the clear blue beaches of the city. If you visit the open air bazaars in the villages of Seferihisar, you would have the chance to buy the products cultivated by the local people in their own gardens and fields directly from them. In addition, the Mandarin Festival is held every fall in the city.
Seferihisar is located in the Mediterranean climate zone and the long warm summer months are followed with warm winter season in the city. Snowfall is rarely seen, but there is plenty of rainfall during the winter months.
Seferihisar is 45 kilometers from İzmir city center and approximately 40 kilometers from Adnan Menderes Airport.
