About Satu Mare
Satu Mare is the capital of Satu Mare county in Romania and has a population of about 115.000 people according to the 2007 datas. Satu Mare is located in the northwestern part of Romania, and it is an academic, cultural, industrial and commercial center. Situated on the Somes River, the city is 13 kilometers away from the border with Hungary and 27 kilometers away from the border with Ukraine. The wooded meadows and trees with soft essence like wicker, poplar, maple and hazelnut reflect the characteristic features of the city. There are many rare tree species at the Garden of Rome, the city’s largest park.
Along with the Satu Mare Railway Station, there is the Satu Mare International Airport in the city, which is located 13 kilometers north of the city. Urban transportation is provided by numerous taxis and bus lines. Having a continental climate, Satu Mare has very hot and dry summers and very cold winters. Northern part of the city is much colder than the rest of the city.
