About Petaling jaya

Petaling Jaya is located in the state of Selangor, which is in the west of Kuala Lumpur, one of the richest cities of the world. It was established as the first planned city of Malaysia in 1954. With a population above 500 thausand, the city has expanded towards the north as the time passed by and become one of trade centres of Kuala Lumpur. The city comprises of four different parts; namely,  S (east PJ), SS (centre and west), PJU (north), and PJS (south). Kuala Lumpur city centre is located on the east, whereas Klang is on the west, Putrajaya on the south and Rawang on the north. The average temperature is around 28°C-32°C during daytime whereas it varies from 20°C to 24°C during the night. Petaling Jaya is rainy throughout the year, though the driest period is between May and August. With its 2.12 square kilometre area, Petaling Jaya is also called as the twin of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. In this city having lots of trade centres, residences and business centres, the first places to come into mind when it comes to shopping are: Sunway Pyramid, one of the best thematic shopping malls of Malaysia, 1 Utama Shopping Mall with more than 650 shops, and The Curve with numerous amusement centres. The building of the gigantic Kota Darul Ehsan, the entrance gate of Petaling Jaya, started in 1974 and was completed in 1981. Wat Chetawan, located next to LRT station, is the most magnificent monuments on Klang Valley. Wat Chetawan started to serve as a small temple in Jalan Raja Bot in 1957 and has hosted its visitors for over 40 years, and now is located in a pretty big complex. The most famous Thai festivals such as Songkran, Loy Krathong, and Wesak are held in this temple, which attracts the visitors with both its sophisticated and dissimilar design and flamboyant statues on the floor. It is possible to see the city with a panoramic view on the MBPJ Tower, an important symbol of both the city and The centre of Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ). The best restaurants of the city are: Fatty Crab Restaurant, offering seafood specialties to its customers, Kanna Curry House, serving Indian food, and Strangers at 47.
