About Mooloolaba

Mooloolaba is a coastal touristic suburb in the Sunshine Coast Region of Queensland, Australia.  This small suburb, which lies 67 kilometers far from Brisbane, is named after mulu, an aboriginal word. It is thought to be the name of a type of fish. The region, which was initially known as Mooloolah Heads, has been referred to as Mooloolaba since 1919.

It is a quite attractive and live region for both domestic and foreign tourists together with its unique nature, coasts, market places and the harbor where cruise ships anchor. Moreover, it also hosts "Mooloolaba - Auckland" and "Mooloolaba- Sydney” Yacht Races.

Mooloolaba Beach has one of the most beautiful views of the Sunshine Coast with its clean, white sand and crystal-clear blue water. It is a safe place for children thanks to its still wavy sea and lifeguards who patrol there every day. Additionally, you can also make use of the schools and coasts which are spectacular alternatives for surfers and those who want to learn how to surf. You can do shopping and select custom-designed clothes and handmade souvenirs by visiting Mooloolaba Esplanade and the Wars roads. On these roads, you can take a good break for eating or a coffee.

In order to reach one of the most instagramable points on the Sunshine Coast, you can head for Alexandra Headland with a 20-minute easy walk and watch the sunset on Mooloolaba Beach. If you continue walking, you can reach Cotton Tree, where the river meets the ocean. Mooloolaba Underwater World, which is an award-winning touristic attraction, addresses to not only children but also others. You can explore the depths of the ocean and watch sharks, common seabreams and coral reef fish swimming around you in the underwater tunnel. Besides, Seal Swim and Seal Encounters, which are amazing places for real adventurers and those who are ready to get soaked, may help you come close to the most beautiful sea creatures! By joining the diving tours in Mooloolaba, you can dive into the Brisbane ship wreck, which is a home to more than 200 fish and coral reef fish, and experience the underwater by yourself.

You can also attend Nights on Ocean on the second Friday of every month. In the activity held on the Ocean Street, you can taste the delicacies from all over the world, have fun with the music of local groups and dancers, select the products of local craftsmen and do shopping. The best time to travel to Mooloolaba is the spring period between September and November.
