Located on the southeast coast of Samui Thailand, Lamai Beach is the second largest holiday island of the region after Chaweng. Lamai Beach, which is a coast with white sandy beaches and very clean waters covered with cliffs, is ideal for not only for swimming but also walking and running along the shore. The largest sand strip in the south of Samui is located in Lamai and is preferred by families with its shallow water. Lamai Beach is suitable for many activities like windsurfing, parasailing, jet-ski and canoeing. However, the island is mostly preferred by those who want to do scuba diving to discover the beauties in the depths of the water.

On the island which is calmer and cheaper than Chaweng, you can find many restaurants offering delicious alternatives from the local cuisine as well as the world cuisine. You can do shopping in company with music on the street markets set up on Sundays on an area closed to traffic. The night markets of Lamai are also famous and these markets where you can find everything from local items to colorful handmade products are open after 05:00 pm every day. You can try Thai or foot massage for a very affordable price in Lamai Beach like in all regions of Samui. In Lamai Beach, where professional boxing training is also provided, you can frequently come across with street trainings. Another different experience that Lamai offers to its visitors is that it exhibits the sea world with a large aquarium. When you visit the Samui Aquarium, you can watch the shows of the Bengal tigers jumping through circle.

Hin-Ta and Hin-Yai rocks (Grandpa – Grandma rocks), which are among the natural wonders of Lamai Beach, are among the popular places which attract a great number of tourists. The fishing village Hua Thanon located in the south offers the most photogenic views with its very green nature and snowy hills. Wat Khunaram Temple is the most famous mummified monk temple of the region and in the temple, you can see the mummified body of a monk who died about 40 years ago.

Koh-Samui Airport, which is located on the east coast of the island, is not far from Lamai Beach. Travelling to Lamai Beach from the airport is generally easy and there are a few transportation options that you can benefit from. The distance between the airport and the city center can be covered by shuttle buses, taxis or tuk-tuks.
