Kobarid, which is located in the westernmost point of Slovenia at the confluence of the Upper Soca Valley with the Nadiza River, is close to the border with Italy. The city is known for the 1917 Battle of Caporetto, which was documented by Ernest Hemingway in his novel A Farewell to Arms.
