Nis, Serbia's third largest city, is located in the southeast of the country. The city in the Balkans is an important junction connecting the Middle East and Central Europe. The Rusalia Church, built by the Byzantines at the beginning of the 11th century, and the Nis Castle, built in the 18th century by the Ottomans on the remains of a Roman military camp, are also among the historical places that attract attention of tourists.

The Kazandzijsko neighborhood, which has a history of nearly 300 years and is mainly occupied by artisans, has lost much of its historical structure but is now being protected by the government and hosting very nice cafés and restaurants as one of the frequent destinations for tourists. Various festivals are organized throughout the year in Nis and the main theme is music mostly. Night life in the city is quite lively and there are many different places for those who want to have fun. Kalca shopping center is large enough to meet almost any need and equipped relevantly. But for those who prefer a more authentic shopping, underground bazaars can also be of interest.

In Nis, which has a very rich and delicious cuisine, you should try börek with cheese and minced meat, shopska salad, Plzeskavica known as Balkan burger and cevabi which is also very famous in Bosnia Herzegovina. Cheese and lamb are often used in meals. Those who consume alcoholic beverages can try Rakija, a local brandy made of fruits.
