Greensboro, in the north of the US state of North Carolina, is located within the state's most prominent metropolitan area. The city, together with High Point and Winston-Salem, forms a triangle-shaped residential area. The city, which dates back to the 1750s, takes its current name from General Nathanael Greene, who exhibited heroism during the War of Independence of the United States against the British.
