About Cortina D'ampezzo
Cortina D'ampezzo is located in Dolamites Region in the south of the Alpine Mountains in Italy. Known as the 'Queen of the Dolamites' among the locals, the city is considered as a paradise for elite winter tourism.
There are dozens of ski slopes, facilities and accommodation centers in and around the city. Various restaurants and cafés as well as stores of world brands are on the main street. Cortina D'ampezzo is generally regarded as a somewhat expensive city.
Transportation within the city is provided by buses. While the little orange buses go to the nearby places, Dolomite buses go to the surrounding towns and ski slopes. In the city there are also cable car networks to reach the nearby slopes. It is also possible to find a taxi in Cortina D'ampezzo. However, with a fare of around 3 euros per kilometer, it costs a bit.
Although it is winter tourism and skiing in the Alpines which makes Cortina D'ampezzo famous, there are many activities to be carried out in the city in summer. There are several tennis courts and a golf club in the city. There are also opportunities to go fishing, mountain climbing, nature walks and bicycle tours. There are also five different museums in this small town. For night life it is possible to find bars, bistros and clubs with good quality and pleasant atmosphere.
Sorapiss Lake deserves to be seen with its glass-blue color despite the long walking distance. You should not forget to take your camera with you.
Cortina D'ampezzo is under the influence of a typical Alpine climate. Short summers follow the long winter. The winter season is rainy, cold and windy. Especially in December and January the temperature drops to minus values.
