About Colonia Del Sacramento
Colonia is located in the southwest of Uruguay and according to 2011 data it has a population of approximately 123 thousand people. The center of the region has the second oldest settlement and is known as Colonia del Sacramento. Colonia is the main producer of dairy products in Uruguay and Colonia is usually visited by tourists from Argentina passing through Rio de la Plata. While around 60 thousand of the region's population are male, about 57 thousand of the population are female.
The region is made up of ten city towns. The majority of the population are in the central city, Colonia del Sacramento and the town where the population is least concentrated is known as Colonia Valdense. In the region a humid subtropical climate temperate is experienced. The summer months are warm and the winter months are cooler with frost and fog. The average annual temperature in the region where rain is seen throughout the year is 17 degrees.
