Çivril which is one of the most charming districts of Denizli, the first place coming to mind in terms of textile in Turkey, is a unique place existing since the ancient periods. Çivril, whose name was discovered for the first time in history in Byzantine documents giving information about the Battle of Myriokephalon, is mentioned as Tribritzi in Greek and Cyybrilcimani in Latin. In Luwian language, “Çivr” means plenty of water and the suffix “il” means strait. The reason of giving this name to this district is that it has a natural strait to Küfü Stream Valley which is very close to Çivril. Some of the tourist attractions in the district are the ancient city of Eumeneia located on the shore of Lake Işıklı, Işıklı Mosque and Tomb, Lake Işıklı offering fantastic views at sunset, Gümüşsu Waterfall and Akdağ Natural Park.

If you visit Çivril, you can taste many local foods such as Denizli pickles, cornbread, flour soap, “tirit” (boiled minced meat sauce poured on diced stale bread), “keşkek” (a dish of mutton or chicken and coarsely ground wheat). In order to reach Çivril, which is located 95 kilometers of Denizli city center, you need to arrive at Denizli Çardak Airport (the closest airport to the district) or İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport. You can benefit from a few transportation alternatives for travelling to Çivril which is located about 80 km of Denizli Çardak Airport. You can get on a taxi from the airport or benefit from car rental services in order to reach the district in a short time.
