About Castaway Island
Castaway Island is one of the smallest islands having settlement on them. The island is located in the Republic of Fiji Islands consisting of 322 islands. When it is taken into account that 90% of the settlement is gathered on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu islands, it is seen that small islands have small populations and there is no life on the island apart from the resort hotel located on Castaway Island.
Castaway, which is also known as Qalito Island by the Fijians, welcomes thousands of tourists every year. Castaway Island is reached from Nadi International Airport, which is the only international airport of the country. The airport is located on Viti Levu island, the central island of the country. Castaway is reached by helicopters and sea planes departing from this airport. On the island, there is a landing field and a port where sea planes and helicopters can land. The island, which can be reached in about 10 minutes by these vehicles taking off from Nadi International Airport, is surrounded by beaches and coral reefs.
On the island, tourists can also enjoy activities like fishing. The country makes its living from fishing and tourism like Castaway Island. Camping, diving and nature walking are among the activities made on the islands of the country. 106 of these islands are deserted.
