In the town, there is a golf course having nine holes and accepted as the most natural and beautiful golf course of Ireland. There are also walking trails and bicycle roads. There are beaches situated on the river bank.

The closest airport to Carrick-on-Shannon is Ireland West Knock Airport. The distance between the city and the airport is about 50 kilometers and you can rent a car from the airport and travel to the town in about an hour.
