About Beloretsk
Beloretsk is a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a federal subject of Russia, located in the mid-western part of the country. It was founded in 1792 around a metal processing plant. Beloretsk received the status of ‘city’ in 1923 and with the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1990 it experienced a severe recession in its industrial sector. In 1996 the Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant was reorganized and reopened, which was a huge breakthrough following the recession. The city is located on the Belaya River (Kama). Beloretsk has medical schools and teachers colleges.
Today the city is also a mining center. The Beloretsk Water Tower is among the city’s must-see sights thanks to its interesting architecture. Beloretsk is located in the autonomous Turkish Republic of Bashkortostan territory, more than 1/3 of which is covered by forests. State nature protection zones, nature works, and woodland parks have been established in the forests; the nature parks cover a total area of more than 1 million hectares.
