Brueggen, a small municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, has a population of about 15,000. There isn’t much to do in the city, which is situated along the river Shwalm. You can enjoy a beautiful tour of the river as well as long walks in the city. It is close to the Dutch border so you could cross the border and head to the Netherlands. The nearest big city to Brueggen is Mönchengladbach, about 20 kilometers away. You can visit the historic cathedral and buildings in this neighboring city. Renting a car or travelling between these cities on bus is very easy. The city has a temperate oceanic climate.
Summers are cool and winters are mild with rainfall year-round. Rainy weather is an ordinary part of the city life, so make sure to take a raincoat or umbrella with you. During the winter the weather is usually around 4-5 degrees and during the summer the weather is usually around 20 degrees. Exploring the city on bike is the best way to enjoy it. Places to see in the city include Mensch und Jagd Museum and Natur- & Tierpark. Since the city is so small you can easily explore it in a few hours.
