About Bayankhongor
Bayankhongor, the capital of Bayankhongor Province in Mongolia, is located in a high-altitude, arid landscape. The name of the city means "rich lover" in the local dialect. While the population is not great, the town is spread out over a large area, and the basic economic activity is livestock. There is an airport in the city that makes domestic flights. Short and warm summer months are followed by long, hard, dry and very cold winter months at Bayankhongor where a cold and semi-arid climate is seen. The average temperature is 21-22C in the summer and -11C in the winter. Rainfall is more visible in the summer months. Bayankhongor is a quiet city where there is not much touristic activity. There are several restaurants, parks and playgrounds for local residents to enjoy, however.
