Barichara was declared the most beautiful town in Colombia and is a heritage village. It’s located in the Santander region of the country. This Spanish colonial town, known as 'the dream studio of Hollywood filmmakers', was established in 1741 and declared a National World Heritage Monument in 1975. It’s 118 kilometers from Bucaramanga, a town that is also very popular with white, blue and green houses, balconies made from wood, four churches with beautiful architecture, cobbled streets and a peaceful atmosphere. Some of the best examples of stone carving workmanship in the country can be found in Barichara. The natural and man-made beauty of the town, with its colorful doors and nostalgic squares, are so impressive that you may end up wanting to try your hand at some professional photography.

The house of the former president, a small exhibition on local history called Casa de Cultura, and the cathedral de la Inmaculada Concepcion, which is illuminated at night, are among the top places to see in the town. The nearby village of Guane, where indigenous people lived in the past, has a beautiful main square with a church in the middle. Here you can taste the famous goat cheese of the region and visit the fossil museum. If you don’t want to miss out on the beautiful natural landscape in the surrounding region, then you can choose to get to Guane by walking, which would take you around two hours. We would also advise not to miss out on the carved sculptures of the Stone Carving Festival that are exhibited in a beautiful garden, or on the breathtaking views from both Río Suarez and the Chicamocha canyon.
