Arso is a city in the Papua Autonomous Region of Indonesia. Arso stretches across a valley and is surrounded by greenery. Even though the majority of the population is Muslim, there are many Christians in the city; thus there are many churches as well as many mosques in the city. Arso’s economy is almost entirely based on farming.

Even though minibuses are used as a means of public transport in the city, local people prefer to use motorcycles and mopeds. In addition to taxi cabs, motorcycle taxis are also available and are reasonably priced. However, it is necessary to talk with the driver about the destination and bargain about the fare if possible.

Arso is under the influence of the equatorial climate. The temperature is measured around 29-30 degrees Celsius during the day throughout the year. At night it falls to a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius. It is very humid and rainy all year round. Since the second half of the year is relatively dry, the city is preferred to visit in this period.

There are not much tourist activity alternatives in the city, but it has a very favorable environment for ecotourism and there are good opportunities for cycling or trekking.
