Apartado is located in the Antioquia Department of Colombia, on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. According to 2012 data, the economy of the region, where the population is approximately 165 thousand inhabitants, is based on bananas, plantain, corn, cocoa, cassava, wood and livestock. The relative humidity is above 80% all year round and the mean temperature is 30 degrees celsius.
