Ao Nang, located in the Krabi region in Thailand, is one of the most tourist destinations in the area. It’s quite easy to get to Ao Nang as it is close to Haad Noppharat Thara and Khlong Muang. There are many places to see around Ao Phra Nang, with its official name, including the Railay Peninsula at the top of the list. The majority of the population in Ao Nang is Muslim and there is a magnificent modern mosque in the town centre.

Ao Nang beach stands out with its tidal sea and silk like sand. Even though the beach is incredibly crowded in the summer, it’s quite calm during the spring. There are also a few cafes and restaurants around this Ao Nang beach, also known as “Sand Heaven”. If you want to discover some new places, you can reach Ko Hong, Ko Poda and Ko Gai villages with a short car journey. Another popular beach in Ao Nang is Haad Noppharat Thara da bilhassa, and this one gets busy during weekends and holidays.

Having developed quite a lot in terms of tourism from the 1980s to the mid 2000s, today Ao Nang is especially popular with European tourists. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that there are attempts to scam tourists in Ao Nang as in Phuket or Ko Samui. For this reason, it’s useful to have a guide when travelling in Ao Nang. Ao Nang can be reached via Phuket by boat and it also has quite well developed internal transport.

In peak season the prices for much of the accommodation gets more expensive. Outside of the peak season, you can stay at a comfortable hotel for between 800 to 2000 Thailand Baht per night. The most luxurious hotels of the town are located around Haad Noppharat Thara and Khlong Muang. Prices can be higher than usual due to official holidays such as Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year between November and April.
