About Anchorage

 Anchorage is located in the state of Alaska, in the far northern reaches of the U.S. Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska and is home to 40% of the state's population. Alaska Zoo, Chugach State Park, Kincaid Park, Alaska Aviation Museum, Anchorage Museum and Alaska Botanical Garden are just some of the sights to see in the city. The city was first founded in 1914.
 
Anchorage is located on the sea shore, and therefore enjoys relatively warmer weather compared to the rest of Alaska. The typical heat in the summer is between 3-17°C , while the winter temperature can drop to -35 ° C but usually hovers between -7 and -15°C.
Lake Spenard is located close to the airport, and is also a site where numerous seaplanes land and take off. There is also an aviation museum close by.
 
Anchorage started developing very rapidly in 1968, after large oil fields were discovered in the Gulf of Prudhoe. However, the beautiful surrounding natural wilderness has remained largely untouched and attracts many tourists. In addition to the parks and gardens, and the city also has several museums that are packed full of cultural knowledge about the indigenous people of the area.

You can get to the city center by bus or taxi from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. If you want to rent a car in order to get to the city center, you can follow two different ways both of which are very easy. The free airport shuttle service provided by some hotels is one of the easiest, comfortable and fast means of transportation.

Taxi

There is also a taxi-stand in front of both terminals. The taxi fare in order to go to Anchorage city center costs between 17-22 dollars. The ride takes about 15 to 20 minutes under normal traffic conditions.

Rent a car

At Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, there is a Car Rental Center, which hosts 8 car rental companies. To get to the Car Rental Center, you can benefit from free shuttle services that depart every 15 minutes from the South Terminal. If you are in the North Terminal, you can ask for a shuttle service immediately using the toll-free telephone. You can go to the city center by driving through two different routes. You need to connect to L Street or O’Malley routes through Minnesota W Int. Airport road. Both routes lead you to the city center in no more than 16 minutes under normal conditions.

Bus

If you prefer public transport, you can reach the city center in half an hour from the airport by getting on the bus number 7. The ticket price is 2$. The bus departs every 30 minutes from 6 am to 11 pm every day.
