Rail

To get to the airport by metro from the city center you have to take metro line 8. This line starts from the Nuevos Ministerios Station and provides transportation to every terminal at the airport. The RENFRE train C1 line, which you can access from the Chamartin, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha and Principe Pio stations, provides transportation to Terminal 4. Bus

Airport Information

Located 12 km from the city center,  Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, also referred to as Madrid-Barajas Airport, is the main airport in Madrid, serving both international and domestic flights. Madrid-Barajas Airport consists of 4 terminals, Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 4, which was built in 2006. Terminal 4 is the largest terminal in the airport and operates flights for many major airlines such as Turkish Airlines and American Airlines. It is an impressive structure with modern architecture that also features a satellite building, TS4. Terminal 1 is the airport’s oldest building and another major terminal. Many airlines take off and land at Terminal 1. Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are smaller in comparison to the others. Terminal 3 is dedicated to flights operated by Lagun Air. There is an airport shuttle bus that runs 24 hours a day, providing inter-terminal transportation.

Internet at the airport is free for the first 15 minutes. In Terminal 4 you can connect to the internet by paying a fee. In Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 you can connect to the internet in the departure lounges, VIP lounges, and restaurant area.

There are various VIP lounges located at the airport. The La Revoltosa and Premium lounges at Terminal 4, La Revoltosa lounge in Terminal 4S, Cibeles lounge in Terminal 1, Puerta de Alcala lounge in Terminal 2, and Puerto del Sol lounge in Terminal 3 are accessible for those with a Priority Pass card. While the majority of the stores are located in Terminal 1 and Terminal 4 there are plenty of options in the other terminals as well. The airport is home to many brand name stores such as Adidas, Carolina Herrera, Sunglass Hut, Hugo Boss, Burberry, Massimo Dutti, Zara, and Michael Kors.  

Madrid-Barajas Airport also offers passengers a range of eateries aimed at meeting their pre-flight and post-flight needs. If you want to get a bite to eat or something to drink before or after your flight you can go enjoy familiar venues such as Starbucks, Mc Donald’s, Burger King, Paul, and Lavazza. The airport also features various cafes and restaurants that serve delicious examples of international cuisine.

There is a shuttle service in Toulouse that allows you to visit the historical sites of the city center. It is a free service offered by the municipality which serves 6 days a week except Sunday. Tisseo is the company that regulates the city's public transport system. The metro, bus and tram serve as means of public transport in the city center. You can get your ticket for each one by cash or credit card on the machines in the station. You can buy a ticket for a single, two or ten use, also for one, two or three days. Prices range from 1.60 euros to 13.40 euros. With these tickets you can use all means of public transport.

The metro operates from 05:15 to 03:00 between Fridays and Saturdays, and from 05:15 to 00:00 on other days. There are two separate lines, Line A and Line B, and you can easily learn from which stations the lines pass through the stations located at the stations.

Trams serve with two different lines, T1 and T2, like the metro, and you can easily learn the stops of these lines at the stations. You can use the tram between 04:50 and 00:30. You can explore the whole city in a much more pleasant way by renting bicycles. Bicycle rental stations are available at different points in the city center.

You can rent a bicycle with your credit card by registering at a kiosk for 1.20 euros. You can end the rental period by re-locking the bike to any bike station. The amount will be taken from your credit card. The penalty for not delivering the bike is 150 euros. There are special bicycle lanes and roads in the city. You can get a map showing these routes from the tourist information centers free of charge. You can also ask for a route that will provide you with the best way to explore the city by bike.

The use of taxis in the city center is prevalent during night hours when public transport is not available. Trains are generally used for intercity transportation and are quite comfortable. Airline transport is provided by Toulouse-Balgnac International Airport.

The airport is only 10 kilometers from the city center. The transportation between the two points is very convenient because of the short distance. You can reach the city center in 20 minutes using taxi or airport shuttle services. Bus and tram alternatives are available for those who prefer public transport. Although it is very common in the city center, it is not possible to reach the city center by renting bicycles because there is no parking space at the airport.

Bus

There are two separate public transport buses that you can use to get to the city center from the airport. You can reach the city center by bus number 66. The bus stops are in front of the B3 door. The journey takes about 50 minutes. If you are planning to use public transport as a means of transportation during your stay in the city, you can get your 10-use or 3-day ticket at the airport yet you can get to all public transports with the same ticket.

Tram

From the airport you can reach the city center via the T2 tram line. You can get your ticket from the machines on the station. If you plan to use public transport for the duration of your stay in the city, you can get 10-use or 2-3 day tickets at the airport. The T2 tram line runs every 15 minutes and reaches the city center in about half an hour.

Hotel Shuttle

You can contact your hotel in advance and find out if there are shuttle services to the airport. If your hotel has a shuttle service, you must book in advance and share some information such as how many people you will be travelling with or the number of your luggage. If there is no heavy traffic, you can reach your hotel in about 20 minutes.

Airport Shuttle

The shuttle services at the airport take the passengers to the city center in about 20 minutes. Ticket prices are 8 euros for one way. If you are going to use the airport shuttle service in your return as well, you can get two tickets for 15 Euros. If time is important to you, it is useful to know the departure time of the shuttles in advance. The shuttles generally depart every 20 minutes. You can take them from the arriving gates and the B3 gate. A shuttle service is available between 05:30 and 00:15 every day except May Day.

Taxi

Taxis are not widely used in the city center, but due to its proximity, it is a preferred vehicle for transportation from the airport to the city center. In the arrival area you will find a taxi stop between the B3 and C1 gates and you can reach the city center in about 20 minutes by taxi. You can also book a taxi from the airport's customer service line. Taxi from the airport to the city center costs about 30 euros and there is a small extra fee for baggage.

Car Rental

There are different car rental companies' offices in the airport. When you arrive at the airport, you can go to one these companies’ offices and rent a car at the size and price that suits you. If you do not want to deal with it at the airport, you can book in advance.

Many hotels in the city center have free parking, so if you are considering renting a car it might be useful for you to talk about this with your hotel in advance. Continue on the A621 road and then on the Avenue d'Elche road and you can reach the city center in 20 minutes if there is no heavy traffic.
