Havaş

Transportation to Münster from the Airport

To get to the city center from the airport you can use public transport services such as buses or trains. Münster Osnabrück International Airport is located 25 km from Münster city center. It takes an average of 25 to 30 minutes to get to the city center from the airport by public transportation.

You can also take a taxi or rent a car to get to the city center, which would be a faster transportation alternative.

Bus

One of the most affordable methods of transportation to get to Münster from the airport is by bus. There are various bus lines that provide transportation to the city center from the airport. D50 Direct Bus line provides transportation to Münster Central Railway Station in approximately 20 minutes. The S50 Schnellbus bus line departs from the Ibbenbüren station, which is located in close proximity to the airport, and also provides transportation to the central railway station. The interregional bus line R51 RegioBus provides transportation to the central railway station in about 50 minutes, stopping in Sprakel and Greven along the way.

Train

The train lines in Germany, known as S-Bahn and operated by Deutsche Bahn (German Railways), are also an important part of intra-city transportation. Although there is no direct train service from the airport to Münster there are train stations located in close proximity to the airport, providing a public transportation alternative to buses with connecting lines from the nearby stations.

There are three main train lines that provide transport services throughout Münster. The red line provides transportation between the Hafen (Halle Münsterland), Hauptbahnhof (central railway station), Servatiiplatz, Lambertikirche (Prinzipalmarkt), and Grevener Straße stations.

The yellow line provides transportation between the Warendorfer Straße, Servatiiplatz, Lambertikirche (Prinzipalmarkt), and Schützenhof (Hammer Straße) stations.

The blue line provides transportation between the Wolbecker Straße, Servatiiplatz, Lambertikirche (Prinzipalmarkt), Neubrückenstraße, Stadttheater, Stadthalle, and Nordplatz stations. Trains begin operate from 6 am until 12 am. Depending on the time of day the trains will run every 6 to 12 minutes.

Münster Osnabrück International Airport is located 35 km from the city of Osnabrück. Therefore transportation alternatives take a bit longer and are a bit more expensive when compared to transportation to Münster. Nevertheless, there are a variety of alternatives available to get to Osnabrück from the airport such as buses, taxis, and rental cars.

Bus

Shuttle bus x150 provides transportation from the airport to the central railway station in Osnabrück. The fare for this bus is higher than general public transportation vehicles in the city. The bus runs frequently throughout the day and is on-time and reliable. You can follow the daily schedule of the line on the internet. This line also provides service at night.

There are 24 buses that operate in the city and 10 different buses that provide intercity transportation. A large majority of these lines offer transportation to the city center and train station. The Stadtwerke Osnabrück company, which coordinates bus services within the city, also organizes night buses (Nachtbus) that operate on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Taxi

Another transportation alternative to get to the city center from the airport is by taxi. Taxis are a very convenient method of transportation.

After arriving at the airport, you can rent a car from the Rent a Car offices located in the terminal or reserve your vehicle on the internet before your flight. Just like in Münster, renting a bike in Osnabrück is also a popular option for urban transportation. Once you get to the city center you can rent a bicycle to explore most parts of the city.
