There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.  

Airport transfers also include London-style taxis, limousines and luxurious midibuses. All you have to do is to make reservations and be at the place where you want the cars to pick you up.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

The city of Münster is located in North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Osnabrück is located in Lower-Saxony in north-west Germany. Both cities are in close proximity to each other and therefore share a common airport. Travelers who plan to visit one of these two cities travel to Münster Osnabrück International Airport. Public transportation services in Münster are well developed and since the city is quite small in terms of surface area it is also easy to explore on foot.

You can purchase tickets for public transportation alternatives from sales offices or various markets. The most commonly used means of public transportation in the city are buses. In addition, there are train services that provide transportation both within the city and to other cities in the country. The central railway station in the city (Münster Hauptbahnhof) is located in the city center, as is the case in many German cities. Cycling is another common means of transportation in Münster.

In Osnabrück, the area known as the city center is called Neumarkt and almost all the buses pass through this area.

Buses have a big role in urban transportation. In addition to buses, just like in Münster, traveling by bicycle is a highly preferred alternative in the small city of Osnabrück. You can purchase bus tickets from the automated machines at Neumarkt, the central terminal. You can also get more detailed information about the bus schedules and fares at this terminal. The central railway station is located about 10 minutes from the city center but these trains are only used for intercity transportation.

Transportation to Münster from the Airport

To get to the city center from the airport you can use public transport services such as buses or trains. Münster Osnabrück International Airport is located 25 km from Münster city center. It takes an average of 25 to 30 minutes to get to the city center from the airport by public transportation.

You can also take a taxi or rent a car to get to the city center, which would be a faster transportation alternative.

Bus

One of the most affordable methods of transportation to get to Münster from the airport is by bus. There are various bus lines that provide transportation to the city center from the airport. D50 Direct Bus line provides transportation to Münster Central Railway Station in approximately 20 minutes. The S50 Schnellbus bus line departs from the Ibbenbüren station, which is located in close proximity to the airport, and also provides transportation to the central railway station. The interregional bus line R51 RegioBus provides transportation to the central railway station in about 50 minutes, stopping in Sprakel and Greven along the way.

Train

The train lines in Germany, known as S-Bahn and operated by Deutsche Bahn (German Railways), are also an important part of intra-city transportation. Although there is no direct train service from the airport to Münster there are train stations located in close proximity to the airport, providing a public transportation alternative to buses with connecting lines from the nearby stations.

There are three main train lines that provide transport services throughout Münster. The red line provides transportation between the Hafen (Halle Münsterland), Hauptbahnhof (central railway station), Servatiiplatz, Lambertikirche (Prinzipalmarkt), and Grevener Straße stations.

The yellow line provides transportation between the Warendorfer Straße, Servatiiplatz, Lambertikirche (Prinzipalmarkt), and Schützenhof (Hammer Straße) stations.

The blue line provides transportation between the Wolbecker Straße, Servatiiplatz, Lambertikirche (Prinzipalmarkt), Neubrückenstraße, Stadttheater, Stadthalle, and Nordplatz stations. Trains begin operate from 6 am until 12 am. Depending on the time of day the trains will run every 6 to 12 minutes.

Taxi

Taxis are another transportation alternative to get to the city center from the airport. Taxis are a very convenient method of transport that provide door-to-door service.

Rental Car

There are many Rent a Car offices located at the airport terminal. You can also book a vehicle in advance by making a reservation online before your trip. Once you get to the city center you can also rent a bicycle for urban transportation from the car rental offices.

Transportation to Osnabrück from the Airport

Münster Osnabrück International Airport is located 35 km from the city of Osnabrück. Therefore transportation alternatives take a bit longer and are a bit more expensive when compared to transportation to Münster. Nevertheless, there are a variety of alternatives available to get to Osnabrück from the airport such as buses, taxis, and rental cars.

Bus

Shuttle bus x150 provides transportation from the airport to the central railway station in Osnabrück. The fare for this bus is higher than general public transportation vehicles in the city. The bus runs frequently throughout the day and is on-time and reliable. You can follow the daily schedule of the line on the internet. This line also provides service at night.

There are 24 buses that operate in the city and 10 different buses that provide intercity transportation. A large majority of these lines offer transportation to the city center and train station. The Stadtwerke Osnabrück company, which coordinates bus services within the city, also organizes night buses (Nachtbus) that operate on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Taxi

Another transportation alternative to get to the city center from the airport is by taxi. Taxis are a very convenient method of transportation.

Rental Car

After arriving at the airport, you can rent a car from the Rent a Car offices located in the terminal or reserve your vehicle on the internet before your flight. Just like in Münster, renting a bike in Osnabrück is also a popular option for urban transportation. Once you get to the city center you can rent a bicycle to explore most parts of the city.
