Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Bus

You can easily get to any part of Montevideo thanks to the busses waiting just outside the arrival terminal of Carrasco International Airport.

If you get out of the terminal, you can reach the city center if you take any buses writing Montevideo on it. Because Montevideo is not a very large city, a large part of the city's public transport needs is met by a bus system that processes on a regular basis.

You can use SoloBus (Android) and Bondi (Iphone) applications to get up to date information on Montevideo buses and ticket fees. The last stop on all Montevideo buses is the Tres Cruces bus terminal, the city's main bus terminal. This terminal is a 30 minute walk from the city center. Montevideo buses pass through the city as they go to this terminal. On that route, there is also a square in the center of the city, and this journey lasts about 1-1.5 hours on average.

Almost every line of the Cutcsa buses (701, 02, 05) from the airport goes to the Rio Branco bus terminal. This terminal is located in Ramba Porte in the city center. If you choose to go from the airport to the city by bus COT, you need to pay 165 Uruguay Pesos according to the current data. There are also buses belonging to the airport transfer company. Thanks to these buses, it is possible to go to the city at a more convenient fare. To go to the city from Carrasco Airport you will need to pay an average of about 20-30 dollars. These taxis are mostly used as a shared taxi since airport taxis start at 70 dollars.

Car Rental

As you will find car rental companies which are world famous brands at Carrasco International Airport, you are also likely to encounter domestic Montevideo car rental companies. Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Thrifty are located within the airport terminal building. You have to use Route 101 to get to the city center with your car rented from Carrasco International Airport. It is possible to get to the city after about 20-25 minutes.
