Airport Transfer

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

Taxi and car rental companies can help you to get to the city center 15 kilometers away from Groningen Airport as soon as possible and comfortably. Apart from this, the distance between the airport and the city center is short, so the express buses, which are the only public transportation means, also provide transportation services at reasonable prices.

Bus

The most practical way to reach the city center of Groningen from the airport is to use the Qbuzz buses. There are express buses to Groningen city center and other parts of the city departing from the bus stops outside the airport terminal building. If you go take bus number 2, named Qbuzz, you can go to the Groningen railway station in the city, Grote Markt and Groningen Noord. The stops on the bus line, the Qbuzz 100 are Groningen Airport, Groningen railway station, Grote Markt, UMCG and Damsterdiep.

Taxi

The city taxis waiting at the Groningen Airport terminal provides transportation to the city center in 20 minutes. You can get service at fixed price tariffs if you prefer taxi companies affiliated with the airport.

Car Rental

The Groningen airport terminal hosts world known the offices of car rental companies such as Avis (+310505271503), Hertz (+310505254536), Europcar (+310505733233) and Sixt (+310235698656). If you follow the A28 motorway at the exit of the airport, you can reach Groningen city center in 20-25 minutes.
