Located along the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan’s capital Baku is a rising star in the East gaining notoriety for its oil, gas, and caviar. The city’s only airport is the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, named after the National Leader and third President of Azerbaijan. The airport serves 5 million passengers annually.

You can get to the airport, which is located 25 km away, from the city center by car or a combination of the metro and airport buses.

Airport Buses

The easiest and cheapest way to get to the airport from the city center is by airport bus. Bus line 116 departs from Vurgun Park, located in central Baku, and takes about 50 minutes to get to the airport.

Metro

The metro system in Baku provides transportation to many central locations in the city like the Old City, 28 May Street, and the Caspian Sea. However, to get to the airport from the city center you have to first take the metro and then get on a bus. From central locations in the city like the Old City, Cafer Cabbari, and Khatai you can take the metro to the 28 May and Koroglu stations. From here you can get on bus line 116, which runs to the airport or take a taxi to the airport.   

Personal Car

Since the city is rich in oil, fuel is cheap, making traveling by car a very attractive option. Getting to the city center from the airport is very easy. One of the city’s most important avenues, Heydar Aliyev Avenue will connect you to the Boyuk Shor Highway, which goes to the airport. From the highway take the Airport exit. The airport contains indoor and outdoor parking lots where you can park your personal car for a certain fee.

Airport Information

Although it is not very large Heydar Aliyev International Airport is an important junction, especially for passengers traveling between Europe and Asia. The airport offers passengers a variety of eating, drinking, and shopping venues.

The airport has 2 terminals, Terminal 1, which was completely renovated, and Terminal 2, which serves domestic flights. The airport contains world famous fast food chains like Burger King, McDonald’s, and KFC, as well as restaurants that offer delicious flavors unique to Azerbaijani cuisine.

The international terminal has a large Duty Free shop as well as souvenir shops where you can buy items unique to Russian and Azeri culture. The airport features free wireless internet connection. 

Tivat is one of the important coastal cities of Montenegro, the South Europe country, and it is located in the south of Montenegro. Considered as a marina city as well, Tivat is the stopping place of many yachts visiting European coasts.

On the other hand, sailing is a well-developed in Tivat. Having a cosmopolitan community with different origins, Tivat is a really safe city. The city welcomes its visitors with the warmth of Mediterranean climate, spectacular beaches, wide green fields and foods that mostly contain meat and seafood from Italian cuisine.

Public transportation inside the city center of Tivat is provided with buses and minibuses. One-way ticket is approximately 3 Turkish Liras for each person and monthly ticket is approximately 90 Turkish Liras.

Taxis that may be the right choice for people that are not very fond of public transportation are very common in the city center. Starting charge of taxis is approximately 4.50 TL and then 2.50 TL per kilometer. As the visitors of this small city also want to see the other cities nearby, renting a car is a common option.

Car rental is a good alternative to discover the beautiful beaches of Tivat comfortably. Dubrovnik, a nearby city that is famous with spectacular beaches, is visited by most of the tourists who rent a car in Tivat. If you want to go to Dubrovnik, you can shorten your travel by 1 hour when you prefer ferryboat leaving from the port ahead of the Tivat Marina.

In Montenegro, there are two airports where international passengers are welcomed. The busiest one is the Tivat International Airport. The other one is Podgorica International airport, located in the capital city Podgorica, and it is 43 km away from Tivat.

Although it is not as busy as Tivat Airport, Podgorica Airport is larger and more modern. In June, July and August, when touristic activities are high, both of the airports are very busy and for the remaining period of time of the year, there are very low air traffic.

You can go to Tivat city center from Podgorica International Airport with a taxi for approximately 70 Euro. As the distance between the airport and city center is very close, transportation takes short time. At the airport, there is no public transportation system, which can take you to the city center.

Taxi is the most preferred way of transportation. People who want to see different places may prefer renting a car. Additionally, some hotels offer airport shuttle services.

Hotel Services

Although Tivat is one of the touristic destinations in Montenegro, there are generally small hotels, houses for rent and motels instead of big hotels. Most of the big hotels offer airport service for their guests. By communicating with your hotel in advance, you can benefit from this service and you can go to your hotel from airport with the uttermost comfort.

Taxi

As Tivat city center is very close to the airport and there is no public transportation service between them, taxi is the most commonly preferred way of transportation. You can go to the city center for a reasonable fare and in short time. There is a taxi terminal at the exit of arrival terminal. It costs approximately 15 Euro to go to the city center from the airport by a taxi.
