About Sale
Sale is a small city in the Gippsland Region of Australia's Victoria State. The area in which the city is located was discovered in 1840 and the first settlers coming to the region in 1844 began to lay the foundation of Sale. Sale, which grew rapidly in 1851 as a result of its proximity to gold rush territories in the region and its connection to the railway line in a short period of time, firstly became 'town' in 1924 and then it has been granted the 'city' status as of 1950.
The city has rich oil, gas and hydrocarbon reserves. There is a 700-kilometer long pipeline between Sale and Longfort. The pipeline, which is completely underwater, transfers crude oil and gas from Sale to Longfort. In addition, gas is shipped to Melbourne from the city via pipelines. The line has a great contribution to the city's economy. The Sale Canal, which has a natural water canal appearance, is the most popular tourist attraction in the city. The canal connects many nearby rivers and lakes to each other. The area, also known as the Grippsland Lakes, also hosts the tourism facilities.
Built on the Latrobe River in 1883, the Sale Swing Bridge, which was the first movable bridge in the world, is located in this city. The Gippsland Car Collection Area where antique cars are exhibited, Gippsland Maritime Museum, National Seaside Park, and Motor Museum are the main touristic sightseeing points of the city. The city has a warm and mild climate. West Sale Airport is 9 kilometers west of the city.
