One of the most important cities in Azerbaijan, Lankaran, runs parallel to the shores of the Caspian Sea. The city is rich in substances such as sulphide, chlorine, and sodium. The city currently has a population of about 83 thousand, which is rapidly increasing. Lankaran is under the influence of the mediterranean climate. With the summer months being very hot, the city’s levels of humidity are also very high. In the winter months, heavy rainfall is experienced. In the city center, where there are more than thirty different species of animals, there are also about 230 bird species.   
There are many sand beaches in the city. There are many ancient castles and fortifications scattered all throughout the city. There are traces of Turkish delicacies in the Lankaran cuisine. Meat, vegetables, and pastries are often preferred. Luxury restaurants located in the city center often serve freshly cooked fishes as per requested by diners. KAchik Bazar Mosque and Boyuk Bazar Mosque are among the most significant historical monuments in the city.
In addition, Lankaran Central Street and Lankaran Central Park, where major shops are located, are also some of the most frequently visited areas of the city. The city’s nightlife is quite lively and entertaining. There are various amusement parks for children. The Lankaran Airport, which provides advanced transportation facilities, is located in close proximity to the city.
