About Coyhaique
Coyhaique, located in the Patagonia region in the south of Argentina and Chile, where some of the world's most extreme settlements are located, is also considered a common center city of Chile's Coyhaique and Aysen regions.
The city surrounded by the Simpson and Coyhaique rivers, and is one of the rare cities located to the east of the Andes, on Chile's border with Argentina. Coyhaique, which is built on a pleatau surrounded by high mountains and small hills, is also the center of the Aysen's region industrial and industrial production. Founded in 1905, the Aysen Industry Association continues to exist in the historical center of the city today. The city, which hosts the Simpson River Basin National Park and the Coyhaique River Basin National Park, is struggling with air pollution despite being surrounded by forests and mountains. Particularly on cold days, the air quality of the city is not good due to both the surrounding factories and local people burning wood for fuel, the polluted air being somewhat constrained by the surrounding geography. Teniente Vidal Airport, located 4.6 kilometers west of Coyhaique, connects to other cities of the region via short flights. The most frequented airport of the region is located by Santiago, which is 2040 kilometers away and offers many international flights.
