About Bandar Seri Begawan
Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital of the Sultanate of Brunei with a population of around 74 thousand. The city is the production center of textiles, furniture, and lumber, and has the distinction of being the largest city in the country. The city, which is formally known as Bandar (Town) Brunei, is home to the world’s largest palace, the Istana Nurul Iman. The palace is actually in the Guinness World Record list and is the residence of the sultan of Brunei.
The Istana Nurul Iman palace is also home to the Prime Minister’s office and other government offices. The city has a tropical rain forest climate, so the weather is hot and humid. This type of climate means a high rate of rainfall from December to March and generally high temperatures. The temperature remains the same throughout the year, with an average varying between 20 and 30 degrees. The Bisaya, Belait, Dusun, Kedayan, Murut, and Tutong are the aboriginal groups that are considered part of the Malay ethnic group. Apart from taxis and airport buses, in advance you can book a rental car in Brunei and collect your car in front of the airport and take advantage of a journey of around 15-20 minutes to the city center.

From Brunei International Airport, whatever time you land at the airport you have a chance to travel to the city center by taxi. The taxi journey from airport to center in Brunei will take about 20 minutes. The purple coloured buses start their journey towards the city center in the morning. The last bus is at 18:00. After this time if you can not find a bus when you land at the airport, you can look for a taxi or rental car to take you to the city center. It is possible to travel from Brunei International Airport to the city center by using buses 23, 36, 24 and 38. You may be expected to pay for the bus ticket in Brunei Dollars. Therefore, before leaving the airport terminal and taking the bus or taxi, do not forget to convert some of your money into the local currency of the country.
