Al-Baha is located in Saudi Arabia, 380 kilometers from Jeddah and 980 kilometers from Riyadh. Al-Baha is known for its lush scenery, rich history, and ancient traditions. It has dense forests, mountains, waterfalls, and mesmerizing valleys. The fertile lands of the province provide many kinds of crops, and its honey, a local specialty, reflects quality and authenticity. Visitors can try and purchase honey, making Al-Baha a major honey-producing place in Saudi Arabia with a centuries-old beekeeping tradition.

Climate / Weather / When to Go

Al Bahah has a Subtropical Highland Climate with mild, fresh weather. Situated at 2,500 meters above sea level, it experiences moderate summers and cold winters, attracting visitors seeking a pleasant climate and picturesque views. Spring and summer are particularly best times to visit, with cool breezes from May to August, and inviting exploration of parks, gardens, and lush green forests. The mountainous region is enveloped in summer fog, while the low-lying Tihama Plain is best visited in winter to avoid hot and humid conditions.

How to Get There

King Saud bin Abdulaziz Regional Airport is located around 41 km from the city center and is accessible via direct and connecting flights from various locations. To reach the city center, travelers can opt for taxis or apps like Uber and Careem, both taking approximately 30 minutes. Car rental offices are available at the airport.

In Al-Baha, you have many options for dining, including local and international flavors. If you prefer international cuisine, indulge in Indian cuisine at Relish Restaurant, where fresh and spicy prawn vindaloo and Reshmi Kebab await. The menu also has the famous creamy butter chicken and fresh lamb masala. Bisbas Restaurant offers a table filled with spicy delights, including orange chicken pieces and a choice of chicken or meat biryani rice. At Indian Corner Restaurant, enjoy fresh naan bread, crispy pepper chicken, and an array of hot Indian starters. 
For a coffee break, explore specialty coffee at cafes like Bauru Cafe, Ratio Cafe, and Mizar Cafe. Amid basil plants and Sarawat Mountains, Soul Restaurant and Shubak Shami offer a rich culinary experience with international and local dishes, featuring fresh Hamour fish and tender local meats. 
Finally, for seafood lovers, Al Nawras Fish Restaurant is a must-visit destination, offering lobster with melted cheese, shrimp casserole with butter and curry, and salmon covered in cream. The Red Sea Fish Restaurant allows you to choose your fish grilled or fried, as they prepare their fresh fish according to your preference. 

Important Places / Places to Visit

• Al Malad Castle (Twin Fortresses): Al Malad Castle, also known as Twin Fortresses, is a historical site in Al-Baha Province consisting of two identical fortresses built four centuries ago for military purposes. Situated atop a hill, the castle played a role in various peace agreements between tribes and is characterized by its unique architecture, with one fortress to the north and the other to the south.
• Al-Baha Historical Villages: The historical villages of Al-Baha Province, including Dhee Ain and AlKhalaf/AlKhalif, showcase distinctive architecture and remnants of ancient settlements. Bin Raqoush Palace, built in 1833, stands out in Bani Saar village, while Ain Village features multistory stone houses surrounded by lush scenery. Al-Qahad Village highlights ancient stone castles, some transformed into museums, revealing the region's rich history.
• Regional Museum of Antiquities and Heritage: Located in Al-Baha, this museum presents a journey through the region's history, featuring pre-Islamic, prehistoric, Islamic, and Saudi-era artifacts. The museum houses items such as Islamic inscriptions, coins from various eras, fossils, ancient tools, and traditional clothing, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the area's cultural and historical heritage.
• Bin Raqoush Palace: Constructed in 1834 on a hill in Bani Saar village, Bin Raqoush Palace is a historical landmark in Al-Baha Province. Comprising multiple family homes and guesthouses, the palace served as a residential system and fortress. Divided into maritime and guesthouse sections, the palace reflects cultural and intellectual heritage, offering insights into historical stories, tribal protection, and traditional practices. Visitors can explore the palace's rooms, councils, and courtyards, experiencing a unique daytime heritage tour.

What to Do

Visit Dhee Ayn, the intriguing 'Marble Village,' with its white rocky setting, or explore the old streets emerging from a banana plantation, revealing the mysteries of freshwater springs that likely captivated the village's original residents. After that, walk inside Raghadan Forest to experience play areas and beautiful landscapes of Al Baha's spectacular surroundings. Follow the road through the woods to an appealing spot with a sharp valley view. 
Inhale the pristine mountain air in Khairah Forest Park, which reveals Al Baha's rich vegetation. If you take the scenic path, you could encounter a waterfall. In the afternoon, visit the city's old souq, a treasure trove of souvenirs, local crafts, and antiques. Finish with a one-of-a-kind gastronomic journey at Hashi Basha's Kabsa Hashi, where you can taste high-quality camel meat.

Nightlife / Bars / Entertainment

Al Baha doesn't have a vibrant nightlife due to the prohibition of alcohol in the city. Nevertheless, you still can enjoy its growing entertainment scene with numerous cafes, and international or local restaurants where you can have mocktails or authentic Arabic coffee. 

Shopping / What to Buy

In Al Baha, you have several options for shopping. Al-Ghoneim Mall is a convenient and diverse family shopping destination, offering a range of global and local brands. You can find men's and women's clothing, children's stores, and fabric shops with luxurious materials all in one place. French and Eastern perfumes, unique bags, and shoes make some of the best souvenirs. The mall also has various food stalls where you can enjoy light meals and hot or cold drinks. 
The Gold Market on King Abdulaziz Road is known for its specialized gold stores featuring traditional and modern designs. Additionally, the Women's Market on King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Street offers a mix of traditional and modern products exclusively for women, including clothing, jewelry, and perfumes. The Women's Market is open daily from 10.00 to 23.00. 
Al Baha Mall, spanning 45,000 square meters, has many local and international brands, including stylish clothing, fragrances, bags, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, and home furniture stores. With 220 commercial stores, cafes, restaurants, and 1400 parking spaces, the mall provides a comfortable and enjoyable shopping experience. Take breaks to enjoy coffee and sweets during your spree and end your visit with a delicious meal to recharge.

In Al Baha, the best and most commonly used transportation method is taxis to get around the city. Rented cars are also highly popular, and apps like Uber and Careem are widely available.
